Metal and Earth
Earth generates Metal, seen from the Metal side. This is the most reliable of the four relations and the least visible: the supply is underneath, it does not announce itself, and the phase being supported rarely notices where its strength comes from.

At a glance
Earth generates Metal: support that has to be worked for, and a source that depletes if nothing replenishes it.
Metal is generated by Earth.
What Metal does to Earth
A chart in this position is well founded. The reading is about extraction rather than about receiving: Earth does not hand Metal over, it has to be worked, and the quality of what comes out depends on how much ground there was. Metal-Earth people tend to be the ones who can build a standard out of ordinary experience.
The cost is depletion of the source. Earth that generates Metal continuously is being mined, and the classical correction is Fire behind the Earth so the ground keeps being replenished. In practice this means the chart needs warmth and routine, not more discipline — which is the opposite of what a Metal chart reaches for when it feels depleted.
In a chart, and in a person
In a chart
Favourable in almost all configurations, since Metal is rarely harmed by support. The exception is a chart already heavy in Metal, where the supply makes the excess worse.
In a person
You are the one being supported by something ordinary — a routine, a family, a place. The risk is treating the support as a given and spending it without noticing.

How much weight this carries
Being fed by another element sounds like an advantage and often is, but it has a failure mode: a chart can become dependent on a supply it does not control. The traditional warning is not about weakness but about the cost of the support.

Common questions
Is Earth feeding Metal always good?
It is the most benign of the four relations. It becomes a problem only when the Metal is already excessive.
Why does this pairing produce builders?
Because the relation is extraction from ordinary material. The output is a standard, and the input is nothing more exotic than experience.
