Snake Personality

The folk reading gives the snake deliberation, reserve and a preference for working things out before acting. A folk characterisation following the animal's reputation, treated as general temperament rather than individual.

It is one factor among several in the traditional system. The folk reading gives the snake deliberation, reserve and a preference for working things out before acting. The year animal is the coarsest of the four pillars — the month, day and hour carry equal weight, and the classical sources never read the year alone. The reserve is attributed rather than derived — the tradition has no mechanism that produces it from a birth year.

The attributed traits follow the animal's traditional character: quiet, watchful, deliberate. It is grouped under Fire (火) in the five-element system.
