Bed

A bed is read as rest and as the private layer of life — the surface where you are least defended. Beds are Earth and interior. Traditional reading distinguishes a bed you are lying in from a bed you are making or finding occupied.

It points to a function rather than an event. A bed is read as rest and as the private layer of life — the surface where you are least defended. Traditional readings ask what the object is for and whether it is working, rather than treating it as a sign. Returning to a bed from childhood is among the most widely reported dream images across cultures, read as an earlier version of yourself still furnished.

An unmade bed and a made one are standard cases; sources treat the first as unfinished private business rather than as disorder. It is grouped under Earth (土) in the five-element system.
