The Parents Palace (父母宫)

The authority you started with.

The Parents Palace (父母宫) describes the relationship with your parents — and, because parents are a child's first encounter with authority, it also describes how you handle every authority since: teachers, bosses, the state, the law.

What the 父母宫 governs

Parental bond
Warmth, distance, support or friction with your parents — and their influence on your trajectory.
Authority template
How you respond to hierarchy, learned at home and replayed at work.
Protection fortune
Whether elders and institutions tend to shield you or test you.
Blessing from above
The classical 'clearance from authority' — licences, approvals, patronage.

The fourteen stars in the Parents Palace

Whichever major star lands in this palace becomes the protagonist of this area of your life. The readings below describe each star's signature here — brightness and neighbouring stars then set the tone.

StarIn the Parents Palace
Zi Wei 紫微A strong relationship with authority, usually experienced through a parent with standing. The inheritance is a standard rather than a resource.
Tian Ji 天机Parents who value intelligence, and an upbringing that rewarded being right. Distance from the family is common; the connection is usually intellectual rather than emotional.
Tai Yang 太阳A strong bond with the father, and often a defining influence from him. Authority figures in general treat you as a peer earlier than they treat other people.
Wu Qu 武曲A direct, demanding parent and an upbringing that rewarded performance. The inheritance is a standard of self-reliance rather than warmth.
Tian Tong 天同A nurturing upbringing and a good relationship with parents. The pattern that follows is expecting the world to be as accommodating as home was.
Lian Zhen 廉贞Complicated relations with parents, usually involving standards rather than absence. The pattern you inherited is the one you are most likely to apply back.
Tian Fu 天府A settled family background and material support from parents. What you inherited is the instinct to hold things together.
Tai Yin 太阴The mother is the central figure in the traditional reading, and the influence is emotional and formative rather than authoritative.
Tan Lang 贪狼A sociable upbringing and permissive family culture. What you absorbed is the assumption that many options are available — which is both the advantage and the trap.
Ju Men 巨门Distance with parents is common, usually originating in something said rather than done. Reconnection is possible and usually happens late.
Tian Xiang 天相A respectable family background with a strong emphasis on doing things properly. What you inherited is the standard, and the obligation to live up to it.
Tian Liang 天梁A strong, protective parental influence and sometimes a parent who needed protecting. Either way, the family relationship shapes the career of care.
Qi Sha 七杀A demanding or absent authority in childhood and a corresponding self-reliance. Early departure from home is characteristic, and the distance is usually formative rather than destructive.
Po Jun 破军An upbringing marked by change, sometimes by family disruption, and an early departure from home. What you took from it is the assumption that you can start again.

How practitioners read the 父母宫

The palace works in both directions: it describes your parents' influence on you, and your lifelong style with anyone who stands where they stood.

A bright supportive star here reads as backing — parents and institutions that open doors. A dim star reads as early self-reliance: doors that had to be pushed. Both biographies work; they just start differently.

Compare with the Siblings Palace to separate vertical from horizontal family bonds. A strong Parents palace with a weak Siblings palace is the only-child-with-strong-parents structure; the reverse is the sibling-tight one.

Common questions

Does this palace describe my parents' fate?
No — it describes your relationship with them. Their own lives belong to their own charts.
My parents are wonderful but this palace looks rough — what gives?
Charts read tendencies under stress, not snapshots. A strained pattern can express as simple distance, or as love expressed through friction. Ask what role authority friction plays in your work life too.
What does the palace say about my relationship with my boss?
A great deal. The parent-boss overlap is one of the most reliable observations in practice: the same star pattern tends to describe both relationships.
Can this palace show inheritance luck?
Classically it touches on it, usually read together with the Property Palace. But the broader reading — protection, patronage, clearance from authority — is the more useful one in modern life.
