Food God is the element your day master generates, in the same polarity — output in its most natural form. It is the god of ease in production: the work that comes out of you without a fight, and the appetite for the good things that sustain it.
食神 is the gentler of the two output gods. The relationship is direct: whatever your day master produces, in your own polarity, is Food God. For a Wood day master that is Fire. Classical texts associate it with food, comfort, enjoyment and unhurried creativity — the idea being that sustained output requires being fed, and that a person who is well nourished produces without strain.
Charts with strong Food God tend to describe people who are genuinely good at producing things and genuinely uninterested in fighting about them. This makes them unusually well-liked and, in competitive environments, occasionally taken advantage of. The god does not push: it proposes. Its strength is quality and consistency; its weakness is advocacy.
The classical pairing that matters most is with Seven Killings. Food God controls Seven Killings — output restrains raw pressure — which is why charts where both are present and balanced are read as the configuration of someone who can handle a hard environment by producing well inside it. It is one of the few genuinely fortunate combinations in the system, and it works through a specific mechanism rather than by luck.
From the inside, Food God feels like the work being the part of the day you actually look forward to. Not every part — the production part: the making, the writing, the cooking, the building. You are aware that other people experience this as effort, and the awareness is mildly embarrassing because for you it is closer to appetite. What you often do not notice is how much of your advantage comes from simply being willing to make things. Rooms full of people who can analyse your output cannot produce it, and you can.
| Position | How it reads |
|---|---|
| Year pillar | An early environment that was comfortable and encouraging, or a family with a creative streak. Charts like this usually start producing young. |
| Month pillar | The strongest position. The career is built on output: craft, creative work, cooking, writing, building. |
| Day pillar | Associated with a warm, easy-going partner and a household organised around enjoyment rather than ambition. |
| Hour pillar | Late-life output — creative work, teaching, writing after retirement. Often the most productive phase of the chart. |
The calculator identifies your day master and every god in your chart, with the pillar each one sits in.
